Vinyasa Yoga:
Vinyasa yoga is the most commonly practised style in the west and is characterised by flowing sequences, moving connected to the breath. Commonly called ‘flow’ or ‘dynamic’ yoga, the Sanskrit word Vinyasa roughly translates as “to place in a special way,” and as such classes are all about moving consciously and being in each moment. Classes are energising, challenging, building both strength and flexibility through a mix of dynamic sequences, standing poses, balances and stretches. It’s a great all around practice.
Power Vinyasa Yoga:
Stronger than Vinyasa and moving to a faster rhythm, Power Yoga is where dynamic flow and longer holds meet to form strong sequences. Classes include a strong flow, with strength building Yoga poses, arm balances and opening stretches, building heat, all to prepare you for a deep Savasana. The practice is designed to challenge you, and encourage you to find your authentic personal power. Expect a vigorous workout designed to condition the whole body, with its roots in traditional Yoga and Philosophy.
Rocket Yoga:
Created by Larry Schultz, based on the Ashtanga Primary Series, Rocket Yoga is a practice that packs a punch! Known as ‘The Rocket’ this strong practice has the reputation of getting you sweating, to get you leaner and fitter faster. Designed to be modified to modern living and to the joints, this practice is both strong, and energetic. Expect rhythmic breath, playing with challenging poses including inversions, and held poses to build both strength and flexibility.
Relaxing Yoga:
Sometimes all we need is to relax and replenish our energy with a class focused on mindful movement. Incorporating a slow and steady flow, designed to create space in the body and mind, be led through a more explorative practice moving at a slower pace. Floor based poses will also be incorporated to get deep stretches into areas of tension and tightness. Challenging in its own way, this practice is good for those seeking a slower class focused more towards alignment, relaxation, release and stillness.
Yin Yoga:
Yin Yoga is a slower-paced practice where poses are held for longer periods of 2-5 minutes. The practice is floor based, working into the energy meridians within the body. Focused on the joints and connective tissues to increase circulation, improve flexibility and cultivate awareness of inner silence. Expect a slower yet in its own way challenging practice, finding deep opening into the body and cultivating stillness in the mind.
Myofascial Release:
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a specialised physical and manual therapy used for the treatment and rehabilitation of soft tissue and fascial pains, tensions and restrictions. MFR uses techniques of self massage to manipulate the muscles and fascia to; restore the elastic potential of muscles, release adhesions (knots), increase lymphatic & blood circulation, increase hydration and restore neuromuscular connections.
Teen Yoga:
Teaching teens is a real passion for me. Classes focus on finding connection to your body through movement and breath, to increase body awareness, strength and flexibility. As well as slowing down incorporating aspects of Yin Yoga, Mindfulness and finding ease in stillness. These classes are tailored to provide tools to help reduce stress, anxiety and find more ease within yourself whilst keeping things light-hearted and fun. Please message me to find out more details.
Kids Yoga:
I teach Kids & Family Yoga Classes from ages 1yr – teens. Classes are specific to age groups, but focus on having fun and exploring movement through the body to create strength and stability, whilst incorporating aspects of connection, friendship, self love & relaxation. My aim is to let children be children, giving them a safe place for creativity and build friendships whilst also giving them the tools and benefits of both physical exercise and mental awareness through relaxation. Arts and crafts, creative exercises, acrobatics, partner-work, visualisation and games are all techniques used in these classes to help them connect with themselves and others.
